Sommer/Summer 2016 Part II (VANCITY, MTL...)

Hallo, hallo, hallo liebe Knautschi Freunde. 

Wie versprochen, kommt hier direkt die nächste Berichterstattung vom Sommer - pünktlich um sich ein bisschen vom bevorstehenden Winter-Grau abzulenken und in Sommer Erinnerung zu schwelgen. 

Hello, hello, hello my dear Knautschi-Friends, 

as promised here comes the next report of my summer adventures - just on time to get some distraction from the winter-grey ahead and to reminiscent in some summer memories. 

.... ganz so sommerlich fing der Trip nach Vancouver aber eigentlich nicht an...
... well, the trip to Vancouver, .. 

... aber ein Knautschi lässt sich von so etwas natürlich nicht abhalten. Und so geht es per Bötchen...
... but of course Knautschi is not stopped by weather. So via boat... 

... nach Granville Island, mit seinen Märkten und Kunstläden etc.

Weiter geht es per pedes durch Gas Town, hier an der berühmten Dampfuhr (die jede halbe Stunde ein bisschen Dampf ausspuckt und eine kleine Melodie spielt (angeblich aber gar nicht mehr mit Dampf betrieben wird))
On, by foot, to Gas Town, which has the famous Steam Clock (steaming every half and hour, and playing a little melody (but is allegedly not even run by steam anymore)). 

Und hier der Herr Gassy Jack, der Gas Town gegründet hat.
And this is me and Mr Gassy, who founded Gas Town. 

Zur Stärkung und zur Heimweh-Bekämpfung gibt es eine (veggie) Currywurst mit Pommes Schranke, njam njam.
For fueling up and to fight a bit of homesickness, I went for some delicious (veggie) Currywurst and fries, nom nom. 

Gut erholt geht es am nächsten Tag erstmal in den Trockner, um die letzen Regentropfen aus dem Fell zu trocknen...
Well-rested, the next day started with a stop in the dryer to dry out the last raindrops from my fur... 

.. und dann den Ausblick auf das Meer am English Bay Beach geniessen...
... and then enjoying the view of the ocean at English Bay Beach... 

... und abhängen mit ein paar lustigen Kollegen des chinesischen Künstler Yue Minjun.
... and hang out with some funny guys created by Chinese artist Yue Minjun. 

Weiter geht's mit einer Runde um den Stanley Park, hier mit Blick auf die Lions Gate Bridge und die Berge im Norden Vancouvers.

Im Stanley Park gibt es Feuerhydranten mitten im Wald.

Auf zur richtigen Action!!!!! Flugplan studieren....
Next on to the right action!!! Studying the flight schedule and routes.... 

... sich aufmerksam mit den Sicherheitsbestimmungen vertraut machen.
... familiarizing with the safety instructions. 

Und los geht's.... am frühen Morgen....im Hafen von Vancouver....
Ready to go ... early morning... Vancouver Harbour...

Und in die Lüfte!!! Mit dem Wasserflugzeug nach Victoria Harbour, Vancouver Island.
And up in the air! Via seaplane to Victoria Harbour, Vancouver Island. 

Ein Besuch der Fisherman's Wharf, ein schwimmenden Dörfchen in Victoria. Und ordentlich Sonne tanken.
A visit to Fisherman's Wharf, a floating village in  in Victoria. On a sunny sunny day! 

Weiter geht es wieder per kleinem Taxi Boot, zurück nach Victoria....
Back to Victoria Harbour by small taxi boat... 

... und mit der grossen Fähre und fantastischem Ausblick wieder zurück nach Vancouver.
... and with the big ferry and fantastic view back to Vancouver. 

In Capilano hab ich mich waghalsig in die Baumwipfel geworfen und bin über wackelige Brücken gewandert.
In Capilano I took an adventurous expedition to the treetops and across shaky bridges. 

Nach einer Stärkung mit einem ' kleinen'  Stückchen Maple Fudge...
After a 'little' treat of some Maple Fudge... 

...geht es noch weiter hinaus auf den Grouse Mountain, mit Blick auf den Stanley Park und Vancouver.
... I am going even higher up, up to Grouse Mountain, with a view on Stanley Park and Vancouver. 

Und wie gross ist so ein Knautschi im Vergleich zu einem Bär!!?!
And how big is a Knautschi compared to a bear !?! 

Und das war es dann auch schon wieder.... bye bye Vancouver. Back to/Zurück nach Monty!  

Aber auch in Quebec is es sehr schön, und man kann wunderbare Dinge machen...
But Quebec is very beautiful, too, and you can do some wonderful things... 

... eine Kaffee in der herbstlichen Sonne in St. Bruno geniessen...
... having some Coffee in the autumn sun in St Bruno... 

... das Spiel der Montreal Impacts gegen den FC Toronto im Regen anschauen....
... check out the match between Montreal Impacts and FC Toronto in the rain.... 

... sich schick herausputzen für den Halloween Ball der Rocky Horror Picture Show...
.. get all fancy pantsy for the Halloween Ball of the Rocky Horror Picture Show... 

... oder ganz spektakulär, das Spiel der Habs gegen die Leafs bejubeln.
... or cheer at the match between the Habs and the Leafs.   

Sehr kanadisch!!! Very canadian!!!!

Das war es nun ersteinmal mit dem Nachhol Bedarf. Aber wie immer, auch im Winter stehen Abenteuer für mich an. Also bleibt gespannt und bleibt vor allem dran.

Sommer/Summer 2016 - Part I (MTL, NYC, QC)

Freunde, Freunde, wie die Zeit vergeht. Das letzte Mal habe ich mich bei euch im Juli gemeldet. Und, schwupps, ist es schon wieder November, die Uhren sind umgestellt und der Winter steht schon vor der Tür. Aber bevor es so weit ist, ein Rücklblick auf die vergangenn Monate, noch sommerlich und sonnig, und einen Einblick was euer Lieblings-Knautsch so an fantastischen Abenteuer erlebt hat. 

Dear Friends, time is passing so fast! Last time I wrote it was July! Now, bam, it is already November, daylight saving time was changed back and winter is knocking on our doors. But before the snow arrives, a review of the past months, summerly and sunny, and the fantastic adventures your favourite Knautsch had. 

Ein Farrahdausflug, der mich erst einmal per Boot über den Saint Laurent geführt hat...
A bike-trip that first took me across the Saint Laurent by boat.... 

....dann gemütlich einen Kaffee trinken...
... then to enjoying some coffee in the sun... 

... und nach gestrampelten 60km (!!!) hab ich mir ein ordentliches Eis verdient.
...and lastly, after 60km (!!) of pedalling, a well deserved yummy ice-cream.  

Sommer heisst auch Festival Zeit. Hier wurde ich vertreten von meinem kleine Knautschi Mini-Me....
Summer means Festival-Time! Here I was represented by my little Knautschi Mini-Me.... 

... der sich hervorragend auf dem Osheaga amüsiert hat.
.... who had a most brilliant time at Osheaga. 

Sommer heisst auch Ausflüge an den Strand - hier mal wieder nach Oka - und ein bisschen Volleyball spielen.
Summer also means trips to beach - here once again to my favourite spot in Oka - and playing some Volleyball.

On the road again.... mit/with Luke Skywalker.  (!?!?!)

Ankunft im Forest Lumina.... äußerst spektakulär - ein beleuchteter Wald mit allerhand Geschichten.
Arrival in Foresta Lumina - quite awesome - an illuminated forrest with all kinds of stories. 

Und auch beleuchtete Inukshuks - immer noch im Wald, nicht im Club.
And also with illuminated Inukshuks - still in the forrest, not in a club.  

Wieder zurück in Montreal, hatte ich Besuch aus Hamburg, der wiederum Grüße aus dem Westen Kanadas, vom Peyto See in den Rocky Mountains, mitgebracht hat.
Back in Montreal, I had some visitors from Hamburg, that brought some greetings from West Canada, from Peyto Lake in the Rocky Mountains. 

Aber wie ihr wisst, hält es einen Knautsch nie lange an einem Ort. Weiter geht es nach New York, ins hipsterige Williamburg. Der Start des heiteren beim heiteren um die Welt-trinken macht ein selbst-gemachter, finnischer Salmiakki.
But as you know, a Knautsch cannot stay in one place for long. So, off to New York, in the very hipster Williamsburg. A home-made, finnish Salmiakki marks the start of the merry Drinking-around-the-World.  

Gefolgt von einem fantastischen Sion Kölsch (im Gaffel Glas).
Followed by a fantastic Sion Kölsch (in the wrong Gaffel glass). 

Und zum Abschluss eine obligatgorische (kubanische?) Zigarre.
And for the finish, the obligatory (Cuban?) cigar. 

Aber noch spektakulärer war der Ausflug in das Cockpit der Concorde, die da noch in New York rumsteht.
But even more impressive was the trip to the cockpit of the Concorde, that is still parked in New York.

Einfach Kaffee is nicht in Williamsburg. French Press oder Cold Brew! Aber hauptsache man kann den Tisch bemalen. Haha!
Simple coffe ain't a thing in Williamsburg - French Press or Cold Brew. But at least you can draw on the table.

ein Besuch an der Columbia University (vielleicht sollte ich eine Ivy-League Bilder Serie starten...)

Wieder zurück in Kanada, der näachste Besuch aus Köln/Victoria,BC/Australien. Erst einmal ein ordentlich kanadisches Frühstück mit Pete....
Back in Canada, the next visitor from Cologne/Victoria,BC/Australia. But first I had to show Pete a proper Canadian breakfast.... 

...und dann wieder mit einem dezent grossen Auto on the road...
... to then go on the road with a, once again, way too big car...

So, das war Teil I der verspäteten Sommerberichterstattung. Teil II folgt alsbald, denn noch mehr Besuch und vor allem mehr Abenteuer stehen an.
