Sommer/Summer 2016 - Part I (MTL, NYC, QC)

Freunde, Freunde, wie die Zeit vergeht. Das letzte Mal habe ich mich bei euch im Juli gemeldet. Und, schwupps, ist es schon wieder November, die Uhren sind umgestellt und der Winter steht schon vor der Tür. Aber bevor es so weit ist, ein Rücklblick auf die vergangenn Monate, noch sommerlich und sonnig, und einen Einblick was euer Lieblings-Knautsch so an fantastischen Abenteuer erlebt hat. 

Dear Friends, time is passing so fast! Last time I wrote it was July! Now, bam, it is already November, daylight saving time was changed back and winter is knocking on our doors. But before the snow arrives, a review of the past months, summerly and sunny, and the fantastic adventures your favourite Knautsch had. 

Ein Farrahdausflug, der mich erst einmal per Boot über den Saint Laurent geführt hat...
A bike-trip that first took me across the Saint Laurent by boat.... 

....dann gemütlich einen Kaffee trinken...
... then to enjoying some coffee in the sun... 

... und nach gestrampelten 60km (!!!) hab ich mir ein ordentliches Eis verdient.
...and lastly, after 60km (!!) of pedalling, a well deserved yummy ice-cream.  

Sommer heisst auch Festival Zeit. Hier wurde ich vertreten von meinem kleine Knautschi Mini-Me....
Summer means Festival-Time! Here I was represented by my little Knautschi Mini-Me.... 

... der sich hervorragend auf dem Osheaga amüsiert hat.
.... who had a most brilliant time at Osheaga. 

Sommer heisst auch Ausflüge an den Strand - hier mal wieder nach Oka - und ein bisschen Volleyball spielen.
Summer also means trips to beach - here once again to my favourite spot in Oka - and playing some Volleyball.

On the road again.... mit/with Luke Skywalker.  (!?!?!)

Ankunft im Forest Lumina.... äußerst spektakulär - ein beleuchteter Wald mit allerhand Geschichten.
Arrival in Foresta Lumina - quite awesome - an illuminated forrest with all kinds of stories. 

Und auch beleuchtete Inukshuks - immer noch im Wald, nicht im Club.
And also with illuminated Inukshuks - still in the forrest, not in a club.  

Wieder zurück in Montreal, hatte ich Besuch aus Hamburg, der wiederum Grüße aus dem Westen Kanadas, vom Peyto See in den Rocky Mountains, mitgebracht hat.
Back in Montreal, I had some visitors from Hamburg, that brought some greetings from West Canada, from Peyto Lake in the Rocky Mountains. 

Aber wie ihr wisst, hält es einen Knautsch nie lange an einem Ort. Weiter geht es nach New York, ins hipsterige Williamburg. Der Start des heiteren beim heiteren um die Welt-trinken macht ein selbst-gemachter, finnischer Salmiakki.
But as you know, a Knautsch cannot stay in one place for long. So, off to New York, in the very hipster Williamsburg. A home-made, finnish Salmiakki marks the start of the merry Drinking-around-the-World.

Und zum Abschluss eine obligatgorische (kubanische?) Zigarre.
And for the finish, the obligatory (Cuban?) cigar. 

Aber noch spektakulärer war der Ausflug in das Cockpit der Concorde, die da noch in New York rumsteht.
But even more impressive was the trip to the cockpit of the Concorde, that is still parked in New York.

Einfach Kaffee is nicht in Williamsburg. French Press oder Cold Brew! Aber hauptsache man kann den Tisch bemalen. Haha!
Simple coffe ain't a thing in Williamsburg - French Press or Cold Brew. But at least you can draw on the table.

Wieder zurück in Kanada, der näachste Besuch aus Köln/Victoria,BC/Australien. Erst einmal ein ordentlich kanadisches Frühstück mit Pete....
Back in Canada, the next visitor from Cologne/Victoria,BC/Australia. But first I had to show Pete a proper Canadian breakfast.... 

...und dann wieder mit einem dezent grossen Auto on the road...

So, das war Teil I der verspäteten Sommerberichterstattung. Teil II folgt alsbald, denn noch mehr Besuch und vor allem mehr Abenteuer stehen an.

Ein Monat in drei Akten // A month in three acts

Hallo Zusammen. 

Wie versprochen, geht es direkt weiter, mit abenteuerlichen Abenteuern diesen Sommer. 

Ich habe so viel erlebt im letzten Monat, weiss gar nicht wo ich anfangen sollen. Und die sonnige Zeit hat ja gerade erst so richtig angefangen, da kommt also bestimmt noch eine Menge mehr. Aber der Reihe nach: 

Hello everyone, 

as promised, more adventurous adventures from this summer. 

There was so much going on last month, don't even know where to start. And the sunny times have just started. There is for sure so much more to come. But let's see and start at the beginning: 

PART I: London 

(als alles noch o.k. war, pre-Brexit) 

Auf geht's Richtung Europa, wie sich das für einen Luxus Knautsch gehört, in der Dreamliner Business Class!
Off to Europe. And of course, for your luxurz Knautsch only in Dreamliner Business Class!

Canary Wharf et moi ... im Schatten. Denn, ohoooo, es war schönes Wetter in England!
... in the shade. Then, oh wow, the weather was really nice in England!

The full touristy sightseeing programme in one day! I need a stop at the pub after that! 

Und am nächsten Tag hochmotiviertes Shopping auf der Oxford Street.... bei Uniqlo, juchuuuuu!
And a highly-motivated shopping spree the next day on Oxford Street... at Uniqlo, yaaaayy! 

In Gedanken bin ich ja fast schon wieder in Köln.
My mind is already set on Cologne again. 

Aber erstmal noch einmal ein wunderbarer Abend mit dieser netten Dame. Prost!
But first a little cocktail with this wonderful lady. Cheers! 

Part II: Colonia 

Nach ein paar Schwierigkeiten habe ich es aber endlich nach Köln geschafft. Und hier gab es lekker Pumuckl Törtchen....
After some major complications I finally made it to Cologne. And there were some yummy Pumuckl cupcakes..... 

Anscheinend wurde hier irgendwer 30!?!?!
Apparently someone turned 30 here ?!?! 

Happy Birthday mit vielen schönen Blumen.... with a lot of pretty pretty flowers.... 

.... und einer wunderschönen Affen Piñata, die leider dran glauben musste. RIP Äffchen!
... and a beautiful Monkey Piñata, that unfortunately did not make it through the night. RIP Monkey!!!  

Mit einer Buddel voll Flimm wurde auf dem Boot auf dem Rhein fleissig gefeiert!
Heavy partying with a bottle full of Flimm on a boat on the Rhine! 

Am nächsten Tag erstmal ein ordentliches Frühstück mit Hilfe meiner freundlichen Back-Assistentin Lucy zubereitet.
First thing the next morning; Breakfast for champions - prepared with the help of my kind baking-assistant Lucy. 

Hmmmmm... da ist es - there it is!!! 

Gestärkt geht es dann weiter zum Minigolfen... zum sehr speziellen.
With my strength regained i was up for some serious miniature golf.... but a very special one.  

Ich hab in Unterwasserwelten leuchtende Fische getroffen...
I met glowing fish in underwater worlds.... 

... war im Unterholz mit glühenden Salamandern unterwegs...
... went through bushes with Salamanders on fire.... 

... bin Ureinwohnern begegnet...
...met some Natives... 

... bin durch die Lüfte geflogen...
... soared up in the air.... 

.... mit eine kurzen Zwischenstopp im Stadion...
... with a quick stop at the Stadium...
COME ON EFFEZH

.... um mich dann im Weltall zu verlieren...
... to eventually get lost in outer space... 

... auf Asteroiden zu fliegen...
... to catch a ride on an asteroid... 

.... und von einer ganzen Galaxie verschluckt zu werden....
... and to be swallowed by a whole galaxy.... 

.. und um zum Schluss einen wunderbaren Blick auf die Erde zu haben.
... and to finally have the perfect view on Earth!!! 

Zurück in der echten Welt bin ich dann aber erstmal schick essen gegangen... wenn auch mit Düsseldorfern, war es sehr schön :)
Back in reality I went for a tres chic dinner.... even though it was with some Düsseldorfers, it was really nice :) 

Aber der ultimative Test stand noch bevor.... Kölner Poutine!!! Aber war gar nicht mal so schlecht... wobei die 'Montreal Poutine' mit Champignon Rahm Sauce schon etwas daneben lag und niemals im Banquise so serviert würde.

The ultimate food testing ... Cologne Poutine!! Wasn't too bad after all... even though the 'Montreal Poutine' with Mushroom Cream Sauce would never be served at La Banquise !!! 

Aber zum Abschluss noch einmal das beste Essen in Köln.... Pizza von Franco und ein Kaltgetränk von Gaffel! (ich sollte hier langsam mal Sponsorengelder verlangen....)
But as a farewell the best Pizza in Cologne from Franco and a cool Kölsch beer from Gaffel !! (I should probably start asking for sponsoring now.... )

Der Rückflug war nicht ganz so luxuriös, aber dafür nur mit den allerbesten Aussichten!!
The flight back was not as luxurious, but with the very best views!!! 

Part III: Boston

Zurück in Monty, hat es mich nicht all zu lange hier gehalten. Auf geht auf einen Roadtrip durch Vermont...
Back in Monty, I couldn't stay put for long. Off to a road trip through Vermont.... 

... und ein Stopp eingelegt bei...... hmmmm...
.... a little stop at ..... hmmm ....

... der Ben & Jerry's Eis Fabrik. Schluuuuurps.
.... the Ben & Jerry's Factory. Njoooommm. 

Und dann weiter nach Boston.
And on to Boston. 

Um eine kleine höchst intellektuelle Konversation am MIT zu halten.
For a quick highly intellectual conversation at  MIT. 

Auf der Rückreise noch ein Halt im kleinen beschaulichen Burlington zum Mittagessen...
On the way back a break in little pretty Burlington, for lunch.... 

.... und einen Sprung in den Champlain See!
... and a jump into Lake Champlain! 

Wauz, das war so einiges für einen Monat. Nicht zu vergessen sind aber vor allem all die tollen Menschen, die ich auf dem Weg besucht und getroffen habe und mit denen ich eine wunderbare Zeit verbracht habe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Dankeschön! ♥♥♥

Aber, wer rastet der rostet (ich bin jetzt in dem Alter wo man so etwas sagen kann ;)). Also geht es bald weiter mit noch mehr abenteuerlichen Geschichten und Ausflügen. Bis zum nächsten Mal, ganz bald wieder!!!! 

Wowz, that was a lot of travelling in one month. Last but not least, I am not forgetting all the great people I visited and met on my way and with which I spent some wonderful time!!!!!! Thank you! ♥♥♥
